This notice explains the limited information collected through the Focus Battery early-beta website. The website does not access your Apple Health data.
What we collect
When you join the early beta, we collect the email address you submit, the signup source, and the date and time of signup.
After you join, we ask three optional questions to help choose who is invited to the first beta group: whether you have an Apple Watch, which kind of work takes most of your focus, and whether you could use Focus Battery across a normal week and tell us what you found. You can skip them, and skipping does not affect your place on the list.
These answers are fixed choices, never free text, so a job title, employer, or anything you type cannot be recorded. They are stored alongside your signup and used only to decide invitation order. Deleting your signup deletes them with it.
Separately, and never joined to your email, we count anonymous usage of this page. That is described under “Measuring how the site is used” below.
To protect the public signup form from automated abuse, the service also temporarily stores a salted one-way hash of the requesting IP address. The raw IP address is not stored in the beta database, and throttle records are designed to be pruned after a short period.
What we use it for
- to invite you to Focus Battery beta testing, and to decide who is invited first;
- to send occasional product updates related to Focus Battery;
- to prevent abuse of the signup form and keep the service reliable.
Health data
The landing page does not receive or process Apple Health, sleep, HRV, resting-heart-rate, or other wearable data. The app is being designed so health information used for Focus Battery calculations stays on your device.
Service providers
The website is hosted on Vercel, and beta signup data is stored in Neon Postgres. These providers process information on our behalf as part of operating the website and signup service.
How long we keep information
Beta signup emails are kept while they are useful for beta access and Focus Battery product communications, or until you ask us to stop using them. Abuse-prevention throttle records are short-lived and are not used for marketing or profiling.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from product emails using the unsubscribe option in a Focus Battery email. You can also request deletion of your beta signup information by replying to a Focus Battery email you receive from us.
Measuring how the site is used
We count how far visitors get through this page — that it was viewed, that the evidence section was reached, that the signup form was started, and that a signup completed. We do this to learn whether the page explains the product well, not to build a profile of you.
This measurement uses no cookies, no advertising trackers, and no cross-site tracking. We do not record your IP address, your device fingerprint, or your browser's user agent. Each visit gets a random identifier that is stored only for the length of that browser tab and is discarded when you close it, so it cannot follow you between visits or to any other website.
Where you arrived from is recorded as a bare website name, such as reddit.com, never the full address of the page you came from.
These usage counts are stored separately from beta signup emails and are never linked to them. We can see how many people signed up; we cannot see which visitor became which subscriber. Aggregate page-view totals are also provided by Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not track visitors across sites.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we record nothing at all for your visit.
Cookies and advertising
The current early-beta site sets no cookies, uses no advertising trackers, and does not sell personal information. If that changes, this notice will be updated before those technologies are introduced.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as the beta program evolves. The current version will always be posted on this page.
Focus Battery is a work-planning product, not a medical device. The website’s descriptions of sleep, HRV, and resting heart rate explain the product concept and are not medical advice.
